Gardening time is coming!!! I was reading your post and just wanted to see if you’ve heard of the Grow Box? I've tried it last spring and had so much success. I had Spanish Onions, Cucumbers, Butternut Squash and Beets that grew like crazy! It's actually a bit better and a whole lot less expensive than a lot of competitors! They hold about a gallon and a half more water. Check it out at http://www.agardenpatch.com
Happy Gardening!

crocus, paper whites, tulips, any bulb can be forced (by refridgeration) or you can go to the local florist & buy some already grown. Their pollen can be collected rather easily.

How fast are we talking???? Lilies are slow. You would be better off with a shortday type flower like: zinnias, batchelor buttons, marigolds etc....

READ all you can, then start planting! I'm going on four years...and am amazed at how much I don't know. Practice, practice--a lot of good plants have to die for a successful organic gardener to be born! Good luck, and good for you for going green!

I think Tiger lilies (something like that. they have pretty lily-like flowers and grow on long graceful stems) can grow pretty fast and the pollen was easy for my friend to collect. (used a cotton swab).

People learn in different ways & the internet is a great way to get access to articles & videos about Organic Gardening.
Here's a video about composting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWTyR0iOhsA

There's also online forums talk about organic gardening, Square Foot gardening, food etc, exchange ideas, hints and tips and get to know other like minded people.

I learn a lot from the resources at my library, & I spend a lot of time with others who have organic gardens in my area.

Getting first-hand experience by trying out different ways to garden is one of the best ways I've learned about Organic Gardening & how it stands the test of time in the long run.
